The church can be considered rediscovered in the 21st century. It was only intensively discussed in connection with the archaeological research carried out between 2002 and 2006. The church is located near the intersection of old and defunct strategic medieval roads. The road around the church to the Tridomí was paved in the middle of the 19th century. For this, material from old heaps, the remains of mining activity in the vicinity of the church, was used. The increased content of iron oxides and jasper led to its name Rotes Strasserl (red road).
