České Hamry (German: Böhmisch Hammer) is a small village, part of the town of Vejprty in the district of Chomutov. In 2011, 58 residents lived here permanently.

The first settlement probably dates back to the 16th century and is probably related to the management of iron from the nearby iron ore mining district in Kovářská. A significant part of the population fled from the forced re-Catholicization after the Battle of Bílá Hora to the other side of the Czech-Saxon border, to the opposite bank of the Polava River to the settlement of Hammerunterwiesenthal.

The first written mention of the village dates from 1847. It is found in the work Das Königreich Böhmen: Statistisch-topographisch dargestellt by Johann Gottfried Sommer, according to which a sheet metal hammer and a grinding mill stood on the site of the village. A village gradually arose around the fort, which already had its own one-class school in the second half of the nineteenth century.

Due to unfavorable conditions for agriculture, local farmers focused on milk production. In addition to working in the hammer, the other residents made a living by making lace and wooden toys. In the twentieth century, most of them found employment in nearby Vejprty, but thanks to Hotel Schmiedl, tourism also developed. Electricity was introduced to the village in the 1930s. Small-scale industry was represented by two weaving mills and a knitting mill. There used to be a spirits factory here, hair nets, wreaths and funeral goods were produced. Entrepreneurs ran four shops, three inns and two newsagents.

During the Second World War, a stone quarry, a weaving mill, a sawmill, a curtain factory and a glove knitting factory were in operation. The industry survived for a short time after the end of the war, when metal hospital furniture was produced in the village and Žatec beer was bottled here.
